Unassuming taco joint located in a car wash. Literally in a car wash. I missed the entrance when I walked by and had to double back to make sure what I saw was actually an entrance.
Super simple menu with delicious options. I had the tacos al pastor, and then went back again a few hours later with a colleague and got the all meat carne asada burrito. Both were great.
The food is inexpensive, the service is quick and friendly, and the quality is excellent. -

The customer service at this taco place is fantastic. It is very clean, excellent breakfast burrito with delicious salsa stand. This will be my regular taco spot in the LA Live district.
Definitely try the green salsa and the roasted red salsa. Both are flavorful with some heat. -

Tacos in a car wash?
So I'm in LA for some meetings. Staying right downtown. Need tacos. Plugged in Yelp! for some guidance, and found Fernando's Taco Inn. Tried to find it the first day, walked right past it twice, and ended up at The Pantry (but that's another review story).
On the way back from the Pantry, I finally figured out that Fernando's is actually in the Car Wash. It looks like hell from the outside, smells like pee (again on the outside) but what part of downtown LA doesnt?
Inside is Taco Heaven. A SUPER clean dining area and kitchen, the staff was super helpful (even though he was wearing a Dodger hat...but wait, he should be cause he is in LA).
The tacos were awesome, I liked the Pastor especially. Went back today for the taquitos and it was an equally wonderful choice. The best part? super cheap! $5 for two tacos, and the taquito plate (with rice and beans) was only $8!
I shall return for sure! -

If you were to tell me this place was a 3 star Mexican joint, wouldn't argue with you but if you take the prices into consideration you definitely have to promote this place to a four. Cozy old school taco stand feel & somewhat hidden location due to ongoing construction on the building. That being said if you're in the area, to want to walk ten more blocks & have an appetite Fernando's will get the job done.

I'll just be straight with it -- the tacos are not good. I had a carne asada, a pastor, and a carnitas. I'd say that the pastor was minimally acceptable, but I had forgotten about the carne asada by the time I had finished my meal, and the carnitas is some of the driest and least flavorful pork I've had in my life. Avoid it, folks, there's too much good food in downtown.
